Death Camps Memorial Site project
Death Camps Memorial Site is a historical and educational project created out of a passion for history and the difficult topic of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camps.
All texts on the website have been written by me, based on 15 years of expanding knowledge by studying such materials as: historical sources, archives and museum collections, the Institute of National Remembrance materials, testimonies of witnesses and consultations with museum staff and guides.
The aim of the project is to spread knowledge about genocide and topics related to concentration and extermination camps, using the Internet, social media, lectures, educational meetings, as well as educational and research trips.
My name is Paweł Krupiński. In my free time I travel around historical places, mainly Nazi Germans death camps. For over 15 years I have visited various concentration and extermination camps more than 300 times, both privately and commercially. Historical consultations, hundreds of books read, documentary and historical films watched about the Holocaust, camps, the Third Reich and the German Empire (starting with the Thule Society, from 1918 to 1945), followed by the fate of post-war Nazi criminals and the history of World War II. In addition to the camps, I also visit other historical places (Wolf's Lair, Pomeranian Wall, place of Operation Anthropoid, etc.)
I work as a programmer/IT specialist. I live in Katowice (30 minutes from the Auschwitz Museum). I run an IT company APN IT - Modern Information Technology - www.apnit.pl, which also prepared this website. In my free time I am also an angler and musician, but the passion I devote most of my time to is the history of World War II.
Implementation of the project:
Website / social media / multimedia
I "transfer" my knowledge to the articles which I write based on 15 years of expanding knowledge by studying such materials as: historical sources, archives and museum collections, the Institute of National Remembrance materials, testimonies of witnesses and consultations with museum staff and guides. The articles are also translated into English by a MA in Translation Studies, and then placed in over 100 Polish and English Facebook groups. The articles also contain original: photos, films, drone recordings, animations, maps, etc. From time to time, I also organize competitions in which the prizes are books about the camps, funded by the publishing houses with which I cooperate. I also plan to translate the page into other foreign languages.
number of visits to the website: over 53,000
Facebook profile followers: over 54,000
number of people in the Facebook group: over 5 600
Instagram profile followers: over 1,600
You can often meet me in museums and former camps, where I share my knowledge FOR FREE - Auschwitz, Auschwitz Birkenau, Treblinka, Sobibór, Bełżec, Majdanek, Chełmno nad Nerem, Stutthof, Gross-Rosen, Płaszów, Pustków, Theresienstadt.
I conduct lectures (multimedia presentations, lessons; 45 min / 90 min / 120 min), discussion panels, among others in schools (8th grade / high school / technical college / post-secondary school, etc.), as well as associations, clubs, institutions, as well as during events and anniversaries. I give lectures all over Poland. The topics are: concentration camps, extermination camps, labor camps, the Holocaust, martyrdom, murderous activities of the Axis countries, histories of regions and cities during the occupation, events, people. It is possible to prepare a lecture or presentation describing a given event, anniversary, place, etc.
Trips and research expeditions
I often travel to places such as Auschwitz, Auschwitz Birkenau, Treblinka, Sobibór, Bełżec, Majdanek, Chełmno nad Nerem, Stutthof, Gross-Rosen, Płaszów, Pustków, Theresienstadt, and other places related to genocide and martyrdom. I am constantly expanding my knowledge on the subject of death camps, extermination, the Holocaust, Nazi crimes, and crimes against humanity. I also immortalize these places in photos and videos, which I later publish on the web and social media. I also provide photos free of charge, e.g. for newspapers or publications, as well as for scientific works (e.g. master's, bachelor's, etc.).
"Auschwitz sub-camps: yesterday and today" - I am currently working on a book on the sub-camps of the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz. Few people know that apart from the Auschwitz and Auschwitz Birkenau camps, there were 47 Auschwitz sub-camps. It is planned to publish a traditional, paper version in the form of a book/photo album and an electronic version (Ebook), as well as an application in the APPLE APP Store and Google Play App Store. "Auschwitz sub-camps: yesterday and today" will be a collection of information containing descriptions, archival photos, maps and photos in the present state. The book will be published in Polish and English. Planned release date: fall/winter 2020.
I do not earn any money for all my work and time put into the development of the website, Facebook profile, Instagram profile, and lectures.
